Sitellite as a Content Publishing Engine

Despite Sitellite having a very powerful template language (two, in fact), there are some things you can't do with a template alone.  For example, say you want to be able to publish the same page in several different formats.  For that you would need one smart template, or you would need a way to specify which template to call, depending on the visitor and the type of request made.

Well, as it just so happens, Sitellite offers this very thing as well, which we call "Output Modes".  If you've looked at templates in Sitellite at all, you've probably wondered what the naming scheme means, since usually we don't name a file "html.index" but "index.html".  If you've read my other articles about templates in Sitellite, you may have even heard mention of these so-called "Output Modes".

Today, I'll actually explain what they are, and how you can use them to make your web site accessible to a much wider range of visitors, from wireless devices, to people with disabilities or low vision, and more.  Output Modes really help make Sitellite a great platform for publishing your content, and for reaching new audiences you couldn't before.

The best part is, output modes are really easy to add, so you can get started in no time.
